Don Wood
Don Graduated from Miami High School Miami OK 1985 where he was All-State in football and track. He then played football, rugby, and competed in track at the United States Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs CO. Don Graduated USAFA 1990 with a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering.
Don began coaching in the Putnam City school district in 2009 as a Lay track coach at Capps Middle School. Don has coached multiple high school state champions in track and field. Don’s oldest daughter Schuyler was a 3 time state champion in the long jump. All Big XII and an Academic All-American in the long jump at Oklahoma State University.
Don’s youngest son Robert was the Oklahoma Gatorade Track Athlete of the Year for 2020, as well as a Valedictorian and 3 time All-State. Robert is currently competing in Track and Field as a hurdler at Stanford University.
Don helped start the OKC Heat Volleyball Club in 2017 with Club Director Joe Wright. The club has grown from 2 teams in the inaugural season to 15 teams 2023. Don is teaching Geometry, and coaching volleyball and track at Putnam City North High School.
Don’s 4 children, all graduated from Putnam City High School.
